Cultural/Social Events

EMC values cultural diversity and international mindedness, and strives to foster these qualities within its student community. Besides the usual festive celebrations of Christmas, New Year, and Halloween parties, EMC also recognizes the importance of acknowledging and celebrating the diversity of its student body.

For instance, a Lunar New Year get together is organized, embracing and honoring the cultural traditions of students from various backgrounds. These inclusive activities not only promote a sense of belonging but also encourage students to embrace different perspectives and develop a global mindset. By engaging in these events, students have the opportunity to cultivate their social skills, form meaningful connections with peers from different cultures, and learn about customs and traditions beyond their own.

Furthermore, EMC recognizes the significance of exploring and appreciating the local culture of Toronto. In line with the IB learner attributes, EMC organizes outings to renowned landmarks in the city, enabling students to immerse themselves in the history and culture of their new environment. These outings provide firsthand experiences of Canadian customs, traditions, and ways of life, fostering intercultural understanding and international mindedness among students.

Incorporating cultural diversity, international mindedness, and the IB learner attributes into EMC's extracurricular activities ensures that students have the opportunity to broaden their horizons, develop a deep appreciation for different cultures, and become well-rounded global citizens.

Every summer, the Toronto Academy of EMC arranges exciting and diverse trips for its students, ranging from beach outings and camping adventures to enjoyable lakeside BBQ parties. The daily routines and classroom atmosphere can become overwhelming for certain students, making the summer break a crucial period for them to unwind and contemplate their educational journey. By taking this time to relax and reflect on their academic experiences, students are better prepared to embark on a new academic year with renewed energy and enthusiasm come fall.
