Our EAP Program consists of 8 levels, Level 1 - Level 8. Each level will be 6 weeks long with 25 hours of instruction per week. Two or more consecutive levels make up a Course. Depending on their background in English and their goals, a student does not need to complete all 8 levels. Instead, students can choose to enroll in one of the 22 different courses we offer, ranging from 12 weeks to 42 weeks in length. Level placement is determined upon completion of the Placement Test.
Level 1 – Level 4 is suitable for English language beginners with limited experience in English language acquisition. The aim of these levels is to develop the practica language skills that will advance students into an English for Academic Purposes program, Level 5 -Level 8.
Each of Level 1 through Level 4 follows an integrated (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) and task-based approach into daily class lectures. Weekly tasks and assignments, as well as midterm and final assessments will be used to evaluate student progress before moving on to the EAP program. The curriculum of Level 1 to Level 4 is currently aligned with the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
Level 5 to Level 8 is directed primarily to pre-first year college students who need to enhance their English language skills to prepare for undergraduate study. The material covered in these levels is currently aligned with the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
As mentioned at the beginning, two or more consecutive levels make up what we refer to as a “course” in our Program.
